Returning to Class: Why You're Never Too Old (or Too Busy) for Taekwondo

Post by Ben Renfrey | December 11, 2025

Ben and Victoria Renfrey

Ben and Victoria celebrating their Black Belt achievement.

I started training with World Taekwondo in 2022 because my daughter, Victoria, was keen to try but would only give it a go if I joined in with her.

Having last trained 22 years previously, I was convinced my best days were behind me. However, training at the Blackwood Training Centre changed everything.

"I forget about tricky issues I’m facing in my legal practice within 5 minutes of class commencing, and I finish each session re-energised."

Training has also helped my career as a lawyer. It improves mental focus and the confidence gained from overcoming challenges like power breaking carries over into every aspect of life.

To anyone considering joining: give it a try. Who knows? It might just be the martial art for you!

Special thanks to the Grand Master and the members of Blackwood for supporting me to this point in my journey.
